VP Health (Vutivi Patient's Health Analytics) hosts regular collaborative events in Limpopo focusing on the integrated management of HIV and diabetes. As of January 2026, their joint outreach strategy emphasises these two conditions due to the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes alongside South Africa's high HIV burden. World Diabetes & HIV Day: A major joint outreach was held on December 8, 2025, at the Khomanani Centre in Masia-Majosi, Limpopo. This event combined commemorations of World Diabetes Day (Nov 14) and World AIDS Day (Dec
1). Mission: To raise awareness of diabetes management, reduce health stigma, and provide screening for HIV and diabetes in rural areas. Impact and Outcomes (December 2025) The event demonstrated a high level of community mobilisation and clinical success:
• Attendance: 267 total attendees, including 33 youth representatives and 29 professional stakeholders.
• Clinical Services: 76 individuals received vital health screenings and information, empowering them with immediate knowledge of their health status.
• Community Support: The event was a massive collaborative effort involving over 35 individual and corporate donors, including medical professionals (Dr Tshilidzi M. Sikhauli, Dr Mabunda), local clinics (Unjhani Clinic Majosi), and community foundations (Collins Nwandzule Foundation). Key Leadership and Contributors The initiative is driven by Dr. Nyeleti Bicky Mthombeni, Director of Vutivi Patient Health Analytics, who also leads the Khomanani HRC. Prominent Speakers & Stakeholders:
• Lived Experience &: Mhani Khosa, living with HIV, Risuna Sithole, living with diabetes since the age of 7, and Kokwani Debra Baloyi shared insights and training on using a glucometer for regular monitoring.
• Advocacy: Lucky Baloyi from Treatment Action Campaign – TAC provided insight on PREP, Adherence to treatment and HIV testing.
• Health Experts: Speakers included specialists from Khadela Dietetics, Dr Phunyuka Bvuma, Dietitian and Director of VP Health Analytics.
• A Traditional Healer also joined this and presented, reminding the community of the following science-based treatments for diabetes and HIV management. Shared insight on how people lose their lives when they stop treatment
• The Khomanani Community Advisory team in attendance led the program and shared insights into the work Khomanani does in the community, including clinical trials. Health Screening
• Diabetes Support: Free blood sugar and blood pressure screening. • HIV Services: HIV screening, counselling, and education on PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis).
• Diabetes Management tool: A core goal of these events is to provide tangible medical tools. Distribution of 100 glucometers (with test strips) per event to community members to enable self-monitoring of blood sugar levels. Strategic Vision for 2026 Building on the success of the December event, the collaboration between VP Health Analytics and Khomanani HRC focuses on:
1. Sustained Screening: Transitioning from one-day events to consistent community monitoring for blood sugar and HIV status.
2. Youth Engagement: Increasing the representation of youth (building on the 33 representatives) to lead peer-to-peer health education.
3. Collaborative Funding: Continuing to utilise community-raised funds to provide essential medical equipment, such as glucometers and testing kits, to those in need.
