KHRC and VP Health Analytics Unite to Deliver Integrated HIV and Diabetes Care
in Rural Limpopo
Masia Majosi, Limpopo | 8 December 2025
The Khomanani Health Research Centre (KHRC), in partnership with Vutivi Patient
Health Analytics (VP Health), successfully hosted a large-scale community outreach at
the Khomanani Centre, bringing integrated healthcare services to one of Limpopo’s most
underserved communities. This landmark event combined World AIDS Day and World
Diabetes Day commemorations to highlight the urgent need for a unified response to
HIV and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly diabetes, which are
increasingly affecting South African communities
A Community-Driven Health Response
The outreach drew 267 community members, including youth leaders, healthcare
professionals, and community organisations. During the event, 76 individuals received
free health screenings and education, empowering them with immediate knowledge of
their health status
Services Delivered
- Free blood sugar and blood pressure screening
- HIV counselling, testing, and PrEP education.
- Diabetes education and glucometer training.
- 100 glucometers with test strips distributed to support long-term self-monitoring.
Lived Experience, Advocacy & Clinical Expertise
The programme featured powerful lived-experience testimonies from Mhani Khosa
(living with HIV) and Risuna Sithole (living with diabetes since age seven), alongside
advocacy from Lucky Baloyi (TAC) and expert contributions from healthcare
professionals, including Dr Phunyuka Bvuma of VP Health Analytics
The Khomanani Community Advisory Team led the programme and shared insights into
KHRC’s role in community research and clinical trials, reinforcing trust between science
and the community
Leadership & Collaboration
This initiative is led by Dr. Nyeleti Bicky Mthombeni, Director of VP Health Analytics and
leader of KHRC, and supported by over 35 partners, donors, and sponsors, including
HOMEMED (Clinigen), Afrileadtech, EMIN8 Research, Unjani Clinic Majosi, Khadela
Dietetics, Momes Foundation, Xilaveko Security, Collins Nwandzule Foundation, and
many more
Looking Ahead: 2026 and Beyond
Building on the success of this outreach, KHRC and VP Health Analytics are shifting
from one-day campaigns to ongoing community health monitoring, youth-led education,
and sustainable access to medical tools in rural communities
"Achieving health equity goes beyond providing treatment; it requires comprehension,
precise measurement, and ongoing evaluation of outcomes," said Dr Nyeleti Bicky
Mthombeni. https://youtu.be/dwLOcnS9pxI
